Annus miraculous

Please take your time, baby. The world can wait.
It’s far too dark, and there’s a bitter chill.
“The owl, for all its feathers, was a-cold.”
That’s from a poem we’ll read together soon.
So much to come, baby, so much for you
when your unburdened face reanimates,
a million untold stories to unfold.
But now, my darling Charlie, keep asleep.
Under completely lightless skies, it’s only you and me.
When you look to me with enclosed eyes, I see what I need to see.
I must leave soon. My worlds don’t wait. Don’t stir.
Please take your time, so much will come in time.
These quiet moments in a roaring life
make up the core of everything I need.
At the dawn of igniting skies, it’s not just you and me.
But before your purpose calls on you to rise,
you look at me with
opening eyes. I see all
I need to be.

astute observation, barry–the cover image does go nicely with jason's poem. but it wasn't of my choosing. you can thank jeff kobel for that one (our cover image guy…).

  2. Beautiful piece, Jason. Someday, assuming that our 30POV.com efforts will be archived on 50POV.com, Charlie will look back and appreciate this for all it's worth.
…on a somewhat related note, I once "dated" a girl whose nickname is Miraculous Anus.

Well, if this just doesn't make me want to kiss your son, nothing will.
    Good stuff.

Thank you very much, Barry. I'm expecting great things from your post tomorrow since we traded up spots! And Joe, bless you for being the first to take my alley-oop assist in the title and slam it home. I knew I could count on you.

Wonderful Jason–made me cry a little. You have no idea how quickly the time does go by and how much a person would give to turn it back sometimes. Enjoy him and give him a hug and kiss for me.

I know EXACTLY what you mean when you say…These quiet moments in a roaring life make up the core of everything I need. Thanks Jason!

This is amazing, I am really proud to be the big sis of Charlie and I know he's super happy to have a dad like you. I love it!

  9. Avatar Karen says:

That is so beautiful. Such tender emotion conveyed in just a few short lines.
